There's nothing better than homemade apple cake in the fall! Last week, I decided to make an Apple Cake with Cream Cheese Pecan Frosting with the apples my husband brought home. I looked through several apple cake recipes, and finally decided to make this one from my, once again, Katy's Corner cookbook. I wasn't in the mood to make a bundt cake, nor did I want to make a layer cake. So, this one, made in a 9x12-inch sheet cake pan, was perfect. Southern 12 Yolk Pound Cake, YUM!!!

What do you do with 12 egg yolks??? Last week, we had 12 egg yolks left from making buttercream batter. I just don't like to throw away food, so I decided I would find a way to make something with them. When I googled what to make with egg yolks, this beautiful 12 Yolk Pound Cake came up from Call Me PMc's blog. So, I took the egg yolks to Mama's on Friday and told her we were going to make this 12 Yolk Pound Cake. Mama, a seasoned southern cook, was skeptical. Mama's Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake, an easy dessert! When going through some of our recipes, I ran across Mama's Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake. I had never made it, but it looked easy. The ingredients were items I already had in my pantry . . . PLUS #1! And, it had a really short list of ingredients . . .PLUS #2!
