Smothered Cube Steaks with gravy and onions is one of my favorite comfort foods. My Grandmama Hall and my Mama both made it. Serve with homemade mashed potatoes for a "made in heaven" dinner! Smothered Cube Steaks is comfort food to me! Nothing says "comfort food" to me like Smothered Cube Steaks. My Grandmama Hall used to make this a lot, served it with mashed potatoes and English Peas. She served EVERYTHING with English peas! I loved the tender pieces of meat covered with the creamy gravy and sautéed onions. Slow Cooker Beef and Peppers for an easy meal!

Looking for an easy meal? I'm always looking for an easy meal, especially for Sundays. Years ago I made Pepper Steak in a skillet, which was really good. So I did some research on how to make a Slow Cooker Beef and Peppers. I needed something that I could put in the slow cooker, a.k.a. Crockpot, before church so it would be ready when we got home. And, this recipe worked out quite well! My Beef and Peppers vs. the Slow Cooker version: My Pepper Steak, as it was called, started with round steak, was cut into cubes, and then browned in a skillet. The green peppers were cut in strips, added to the meat with soy sauce, and then simmered until the meat was tender. It did not have onions. Mama’s Meat Loaf . . . When it comes to Mama’s Meat Loaf, there’s nothing better. It is the ultimate comfort food, in my opinion. Her recipe doesn’t have eggs in it, which is good for those who can’t eat eggs. And, it is covered with a tasty sweet and sour sauce that is simply delicious. This meat loaf has become one of Mama’s signature recipes–hence, we named it “Mama’s Meat Loaf”. And, everyone who eats it says it is the best meat loaf they have ever had!
