Chocolate Crinkle Cookies for Christmas!

Chocolate Crinkle cookies

Christmas is comin’! Time to bake Chocolate Crinkle Cookies!

With Thanksgiving behind us, we turn our thoughts and minds to Christmas. And that usually means lots of baking, especially Christmas cookies! And I can’t think of any better cookies to bake than Chocolate Crinkle cookies.

You might be thinking, “It’s not even December yet. Why would I want to bake cookies for Christmas now?” Well, then answer is that most cookies are something you can make in advance and freeze for several weeks or even months until you need them. Wouldn’t that be a great time saver? Bake cookies now, freeze and serve later? Or, what about planning a Cookie Swap? Bake the cookies you will swap, freeze them, then all you have to do is focus on your get-together. That may be on my “Christmas Bucket List” this year. I thought about it last year, but didn’t get around to doing it. Maybe this year is the year!

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies . . .

Last year, Candace and her girls at the shop made these during their Holiday Baking for the customers, and I was  intrigued by them. What makes this cookie turn out so perfectly with the powdered sugar, but breaks open to reveal the delicious chocolate inside?

So, I looked for a recipe for Chocolate Crinkle Cookies, and made them. We ate some, and I gave some to my mother. She loved them! To assure that she had some for several days, she froze all of them, then took out what she wanted to eat or serve to visitors during the Christmas season. If you are like us, you will  have company to drop by during December because the nature of the season is to love and fellowship with friends and family.

These Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are like a chocolate snow-burst!

I fell in love with these Chocolate Crinkle Cookies! They looked like a chocolate snow-burst . . . perfect for the holidays or for a winter dessert! Think about a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate and a couple of these cookies for an afternoon snack. Yum!!!

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies Recipe . . .

This Chocolate Crinkle Cookies recipe uses brown sugar (while some of the others used white) and butter (some of the others used oil). I prefer using brown sugar and real butter to white sugar and oil.

This cookie was not overly sweet, which I liked. It was a nice contrast to some of the other really sweet candies (fudge) and cookies:)

My grandchildren really liked these cookies. . . I think because of the uniqueness of the cookie itself with the powdered sugar, as well as the taste.
