Lynn’s Chocolate Cherry Brownies . . . an ultimate chocolate delights!

My husband, Lynn, can make the BEST Chocolate Cherry Brownies you ever put in your mouth! They are moist and delicious, and the crunch of the walnuts or pecans adds not only taste, but texture. And, since both chocolate and cherries are Valentine’s Day sweet treats, these brownies would be a perfect goodie for the holiday. Plus, they are super easy to make, since they start with a brownie mix.

Making Lynn’s Chocolate Cherry Brownies . . .

Lynn’s Chocolate Cherry Brownies are what I would call “convenience food” because they start with a brownie mix, which in my opinion, is a convenience! You could make the same brownies from scratch, but why do it? His recipe is quick, easy, and the result are moist chocolate-cherry brownies with a walnut crunch.

Here are some tips on making his delicious brownies:

  • Lynn’s Chocolate Cherry Brownies starts with a Walnut Brownies mix. I like Duncan Hines, but use the brand you like best.
  • The juice from the maraschino cherries takes the place of the water in the package directions, so DON’T add the water as indicated on the box.
  • If you prefer pecans, like I do, you can substitute pecans for the walnuts, and buy a plain chocolate brownie mix. Or, leave the nuts out. The brownies will still be delicious.

Whether you make these Chocolate Cherry Brownies for Valentine’s Day, or just “because”, they will end up on your favorite Quick and Easy Desserts list, I’m sure. Just keep a brownie mix, a jar or maraschino cherries, and your favorite nuts in your pantry at all times. Then when you want them, you can make them in just a matter of minutes. Ingredients
  • 1 (17.6-ounce) package walnut brownie mix
  • 1 small jar of red maraschino cherries WITH the juice (Lynn said to be sure to tell you to buy the RED cherries)
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • The ingredients to make the brownie mix: eggs, oil
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Spray a 8x8-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. Prepare the brownies mix, according to package directions, with the eggs and oil. DON'T ADD THE WATER.
  4. Pour the juice from the jar of maraschino cherries into the brownie batter. Stir to combine.
  5. Chop the maraschino cherries into smaller pieces. Add to the brownie batter. Stir to combine.
  6. Add the chopped walnuts. Stir to combine.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared baking pan.
  8. Bake according to package directions. Check with a toothpick when the time is up to be sure the brownies are done. This is a moist brownie.
  9. Set aside to cool.
  10. Cut into squares to serve.
Recipe Notes

NOTE: Because this is a really moist brownie, pay close attention as the baking time is up. You don't want to overcook them.
