“Wings of the Morning”, a Forte Friday post

"Wings of the Morning"

“Wings of the Morning” . . .The early morning hours. . .

The early morning hours. . . no television. . . no radio. . . no distractions. . . no one else up yet. . . I have commented and written in my daily devotional journal about how I love the solitude of the early morning hours.  Me, my Bible, and my Father. I began to read in Psalm 139. The phrase, “wings of the morning”, jumped out at me! This phrase, this verse, caused me to ponder how Awesome our Heavenly Father is. He is always there . . . even in the “wings of the morning”!

Why we need “Wings of the Morning” . . .the “hustle and bustle”. . .

It’s December 1st. We have entered the season of Christmas, and the “hustle and bustle” of the upcoming weeks will take over some of the more quiet moments in our lives, if we let it. It’s amazing how we forget how peaceful “quite” times are. . . how we forget the value of quite times to read, meditate and pray. The “hustle and bustle” causes us to become too busy to take time to be quite. . . to reflect on where we are and where we need to be. . . to stay in touch with the One who created us. He created us out of His love, out of His desire for family.  He is in the “wings of the morning”. . . He is with us every hour of every day. He is Omnipresent. . . isn’t that a comforting thought?

If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.”

Psalm 139:9-10 (King James Version)

The writing of “Wings of the Morning” . . . “Soaring” . . .

I knew this phrase was going to be the title of a song . . . a song that reflected the peace of the early morning hours. As I began to write this song, “Wings of the Morning”, it sounded like “soaring”. . . soaring in the clouds. . . free as a bird. . . gliding over God’s creation–held safely in His right hand.

It is a song of peace, almost “dreamy”. We all need peace . . . God’s peace . . . especially as we see the events unfold around the world and here in our own country.

I hope it brings you peace as you listen to it! Close your eyes, and see in your mind’s eye the “Wings of the Morning” in the early morning hours.
